Day Trip In Balik Pulau, Penang

Here is the itinerary recommend to you when visit in Balik Pulau, Penang:

Balik Kampung at Balik Pulau
 
1.) Pasar Awan Balik Pulau  
Before start the day trip. Let's have a breakfast first ! We choose Pasar Awam Balik Pulau as our   place for breakfast.
 
Pasembur RM 4.59 (S) / RM 5.50 (L) 
Nutmeg drink 
Chicken fried rice RM 7.00
Char Koay Teow RM 4.00
 Kaya toast with half boiled eggs and Hainanese coffee RM 2.50

2.) Balik Pulau famous Asam Laksa
Asam Laksa RM 4.00 (S) / RM 5.00 (L)
The ingredients used to make this vermicelli soup (a rice noodle also known asmee hoon) are mackeral fish (ikan kembung in Bahasa Malaysia), tamarind (assam) which gives the soup a sour taste, lemongrass (serai), chilly, mint, pineapple slices, onion, prawn paste, cucumber, laksa flower and laksa leaves. Too delicious to resist!

4.) Holy Name of Jesus Church
The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus is a colonial-style church in Balik Pulau. This Balik Pulau Church was built in 1854, making it one of the older churches in Penang.

6.) Ghee Hup Nutmeg Factory 
The Ghee Hup nutmeg factory is run by Mr. Chang Kun Mim. It is located at Balik Pulau in Penang. Mr. Chang has revolved in this business since he was 15 in 1953. His factory processes pickled nutmeg, picked papaya and banana chips. Mr. Chang is a friendly man and has a tons of knowledge regards nutmeg. He will explained everything about nutmeg to whoever go there and he let us try the nutmeg drink for free.
Mr. Chang explained every function of the nutmeg. From the tree itself to the every part of the nutmeg all very useful, each has their own function.

Sugar free organic nutmeg tea RM 22.00
Nutmeg is rarely found in other state of Malaysia, the main distributor is from Penang. Do you pay a visit to Mr.Chang if you happen to drop by Penang, You will surely gain a lot of useful information.  

7.) Pantai Pasir Panjang

A winding hill road leads towards the beach of Pasir Panjang. The place is mostly frequented by picnickers and anglers during the weekend. It is a good place for locals to relax and enjoy the beach away from the crowds on the north coast. 
8.) Balik Kampung at Balik Pulau 
"Balik Kampung" is the Malay saying of "back to hometown". It'is not only a good place for great "kampung" activities, but also a great place for delicious food.
